Have your home wiring professionally inspected. Before making electrical upgrades, you’ll want to ensure that your wiring meets current safety standards. Your home wiring should be inspected every 25 years, or sooner if your lights flicker or your breakers trip frequently.

Install additional outlets in high-traffic areas. Most of us have too many electronic devices competing for too few outlets, and it’s not safe to use power strips for high-wattage appliances. Additional electrical outlets are a very practical and inexpensive home upgrade, and newer outlets include built-in surge protection and USB charging ports!

Upgrade your home lighting package. LED bulbs offer the same number of lumens as conventional light bulbs using a fraction of the wattage, and Smart LED bulbs enable you to adjust brightness and color temperature using a smartphone app. You’ll want plenty of task lighting in your kitchen, bathrooms, and home office, and recessed lighting and track lighting are a great way to light your home in layers and create additional ambiance.
