An in-home Energy Efficiency Audit is a great way to lower energy costs!

Spring has sprung in Arkansas, and summer isn’t far away! Most families look forward to spending more time outdoors or taking their children on a much-needed vacation, but don’t look forward to triple-digit outdoor temperatures and utility bills! But lowering your bills is easier than you think, and our team at Gary Houston Electric is always a phone call away when you’re ready to get started!

We’ve offered trusted residential electrical service in Little Rock since 1978, and we’re available 24/7 to help you any time you encounter an electrical emergency. We can also help you keep your next remodeling project on time and within budget and give you an estimate for a KOHLER emergency generator so you can keep the lights on no matter what Mother Nature has in store for us. We love helping our customers find ways to save money and offer in-home energy audits if you’re interested in lowering your household energy consumption without sacrificing anyone’s comfort. Here are a few things to consider when you’d like to fight back against rising energy costs.

Address electrical safety problems-Your home wiring should be inspected at least every 25 years, or sooner if you encounter a sudden unexpected increase in your utility bills or frequently tripped circuit breakers. Be sure to replace any remaining ungrounded electrical outlets and install outlets with Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) in your kitchen, bathrooms, and outdoors.

Replace or upgrade your windows-Drafts are easier to notice during winter than summer, and inexpensive weatherstripping is an effective short-term solution. The IRS currently offers tax credits for qualified energy-efficient improvements made to your home before 2032, so be sure to include upgrading your windows or adding storm windows in your long-term home improvement plans.

Install a smart thermostat and LED lighting-A programmable thermostat can lead to significant energy savings if used correctly, and today’s smart thermostats can be programmed on the go using a smartphone app. Smart LED bulbs offer the same amount of light using less wattage, and they can also be programmed to turn on and off remotely to make your home look occupied while you’re on vacation!
