Contact GHEC for In-Home Energy Efficiency Audit Services!
Arkansas homeowners are no stranger to rising energy costs, and there seems to be no end in sight! We’re all at the mercy of our utility providers, and the only reliable way that we can fight back is to find ways to lower our energy consumption. No two homes are ever quite the same, but most homes have plenty of areas that need improvement. Even newly constructed homes often need some tightening up, especially if the builders were under pressure to build a lot of homes quickly in a new subdivision!
Gary Houston Electric has been Little Rock’s most trusted residential and commercial electrician since 1978, and we’re always happy to offer in-home energy efficiency consultations. Our team of experts will take a look around your home and help you find ways to save on your energy bills, and are also happy to give you a free estimate for a Kohler emergency generator so that you can enjoy peace of mind no matter what Mother Nature has in store for us! Here are a few ways to start saving money right away:
Replace older outlets-You should have three prong outlets throughout your home, and GFCI outlets in your kitchen, bathrooms, and outdoors. If your home’s wiring is over 25 years old, it might need to be replaced. Upgrading your outlets won’t make a major difference on your overall energy consumption, but you can’t afford to take any chances when it comes to your family’s safety!
Replace older appliances-Your HVAC system and hot water heater have a limited lifespan, but many units continue to operate for many more years. Even a well-built heat pump or water heater will predictably become less efficient as it gets older, and you don’t have to wait for your appliances to go completely out of commission before you replace them.
Install a Programmable Thermostat-A programmable thermostat can save you 10% or more on your electricity bill, and the newer smart thermostat models couldn’t be easier to use. Most models can now be set remotely using your smartphone or mobile device, and they’ll even provide you energy usage reports to help you and your family monitor your usage.
