A new lighting package offers a lot of bang for your home improvement buck, and we’re a phone call away when you’re ready to brainstorm. We love helping homeowners bring their ideas to life, and we also know plenty of easy ways to help you lower your energy bills! Here are a few things to keep in mind as you begin planning your upcoming renovations:
Learn about LED Kelvin temperatures—Most homeowners have already replaced all their traditional incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs, which emit as much light as incandescents using a fraction of the wattage. Kelvin temperatures range from 2000K to 6500K, and certain temperature ranges look better in different areas of the home; LED bulbs in the 2000K-3000K range emit a warm, yellowish light that looks best in common areas and bedrooms, while bulbs in the 3100K-4500K range emit a bright, bluish light that’s ideal for the kitchen and bathrooms.
Strike the right balance between overhead and task lighting—Overhead lighting is typically available in every room of the house, and lamps are a cheap and easy way to add task lighting to your favorite seating areas. Track lighting, recessed lighting, and wall sconces are also great ways to add layers of light and create additional ambiance in any room.
Think of your backyard as an extra room—Outdoor patio lighting is an excellent way to increase your home’s functional space, and you can keep your backyard cookouts going long after the sun has gone down! You’ll be glad you installed motion-sensor floodlights over your garage doors each time you carry in groceries after dark, and they’re also a highly effective burglary deterrent!
